Cirque Du Soleil’s most acclaimed touring show to date, KURIOS – Cabinet Of Curiosities™ – will be coming to Singapore this July.
Premiers 5 July 2019
Presented by M1 and written and directed by Michael Laprise, the show will premier on 5 July 2019 at the grey and white Big Top tent on Bayfront Avenue, next to the Marina Bay Sands.
Having worked for nine years as an actor, director and an artistic director before joining Cirque Du Soleil in 2000, Laprise spent five years as a talent scout before taking on, in 2006, the role of Special Events Designer.
In that capacity, he directed the large-scale performance event created for the launch of the Fiat Bravo in Italy in 2007, the Cirque Du Soleil’s performance event celebrating Quebec City’s 400th anniversary in 2008 and the opening show at the EuroVision Song Contest held in Russia in 2009, amongst others.
A Tale Where Time Comes To A Stop
KURIOS – Cabinet Of Curiosities™ will tell a tale where time comes to a complete stop, transporting audiences into a fantasy world whereby everything is possible.
In an alternate yet familiar past, where wonders abound for those who trust their imagination, a scientist (The Seeker) is convinced that there exists a hidden world – a place whereby the craziest ideas and the grandest dreams await.
And out of The Seeker’s curio cabinet steps an international cast of 47 artistes from 17 countries, a collection of otherworldly characters made up of world-class gymnasts, acrobats, contortionists, hand-puppeteers, yo-yo wizards, clowns, actors and musicians. Together they turn The Seeker’s world upside down, guided by an energetic gypsy jazz, electro swing soundtrack.
Set in the latter half of the 19th century, reality is relative in this new realm as the show aims to transform our perceptions completely.
Critics Rave About The Show
In fact, since its global debut, critics across North America and Japan have been raving about the show.
For example:
According to the San Francisco Chronicle: “KURIOS is the most enthralling, consistently over-the-top magical show Cirque Du Soleil has sent our way in a long time!”
And said the Los Angeles Times: “Astonishing. Kurios inspires wonder, awe, excitement and suspense.”
