A brand new initiative organised by Orange room and NovaStella, Leaderboard – Run For Your Future is a virtual running event which aims to provide an innovative solution that aims to help Singaporeans and Singapore companies to survive the Covid-19 recession, as well as to thrive in the ‘next normal’ that will be presented in a post Covid world.
The Leaderboard is a digital platform that will build a community to engage Singaporeans who are seeking jobs or transiting to new sectors.
It also hopes to enable job seekers to professionalise their efforts to find new employment and acquire the skills they need to succeed.
As well, through sport and engagement, Leaderboard hopes to create a culture of self-reliance among Singaporeans in the current global landscape.
Due to its accessibility and popularity among Singaporeans, running was chosen as the core activity.
Participants of Leaderboard will join groups that are organised based on the sectors that reflect the key growth industries identified by the Singapore government. They then complete challenges based on the consistent achievement of set goals over a fixed time period.
There are two running categories – the Competitive one and the Social one and both require participants to run 5KM in a single activity. However, multiple attempts are allowed.
The Social category is free of charge to enter while the competitive category, which comes with a finisher medal, is priced at $9.50 per entry. For a $15 top-up, you can get a finisher t-shirt as well.
Competitive participants also stand to win rewards when they complete the monthly challenges, on top of running their best 5KM run.
Social category participants will only receive a virtual goodie bag via email.
Also, as part of the Leaderboard initiative, speakers from various industries will also provide expertise and advise on existing trends and the relevant skill-sets required, to further equip professionals in the workforce.
At the end of the Leaderboard challenge, the top 30 male and female finishers in the Competitive category will qualify for the grand finale at the Sports Hub to take on a physical 5KM run there, and stand a chance to win $8,000 worth of prizes. This will take place in April 2021.
Through this initiative, the organisers hope that everyone will strive to become a leader in their industry sector and run for a new, post Covid-19 future.
