Review: My Herbalife Nutrition Virtual Run 2021 (100km Individual Category)

The second edition of the Herbalife Nutrition Virtual Run is currently taking place. Part of Herbalife’s Get Moving With Good Nutrition campaign, the virtual event hopes to inspire healthy living and fostering communities to support one another on living well, during this pandemic.

The run began on 1st October and ends next week, on the 31st October, with individual categories of 5km, 20km, 50km and 100km, and team categories of 20km, 50km, 100km, 200km and 500km.

Taking part in the 100km

I was invited by Herbalife to take part in the event and I selected the 100km individual category.

Herbalife Kit

Towards the beginning of October, Herbalife sent me a nutrition kit to prepare me for the run.

This kit comprised of a range of their best-selling products from nutritional shakes to fibre supplements, as well as a Herbalife towel and a sports bag.

Completing it over a couple of weeks

With regards to the distance, I have already completed the 100kms. I have done it over multiple runs throughout the course of a couple of weeks even though we do have one month to do it.

My Run Sessions

My runs have been a mixture of long runs, easy runs and speed and tempo sessions since the beginning of October. The longest single distance clocked was 21.35km, with most of the runs averaging about 10km.

For the locations of my runs, these were at a variety of locations, ranging from my usual stomping ground at East Coast Park, to Marina Bay, Mountbatten and Kallang.

There was also one hill running session at the Singapore Botanic Gardens clocked as part of the session. It was done with my running club, Coached. I have had a mixture of solo runs as well as runs with friends.

As a regular runner who has been running about five to six days a week, I was pretty confident of clocking the mileage required for the Herbalife Virtual Run, and I exceeded my target, running the distance in two weeks rather than one month.

Easy Uploading

Uploading the runs was also easy. You can either choose to manually upload each session on the Herbalife website, or connect your regular running app i.e. Strava, Garmin Connect, RunKeeper, etc, and your runs will automatically sync.

I chose to connect Strava, as I use this app regularly for my runs. This made the syncing a fuss-free process, with the Herbalife website automatically pulling all my sessions from Strava into their own server and accumulating the distance.

So once connected, I didn’t need to do anything and the mileage would automatically update. I can be rather lazy at times, so this made it super easy for me to manage.

I have to point out, though, that despite the fact that I have already finished 100kms, the app is still continuing to upload.

So currently I have about 163km credited to my account. Well, I suppose if there’s slightly more mileage, it definitely can’t be a bad thing.

Keeping us fit and motivated

In the continued absence of races here in Singapore and with no light at the end of the tunnel, I find that taking part in accumulative virtual events such as the Herbalife Nutrition Virtual Run does help to hold me accountable to clock mileage and keep up with my regular running routines – so thanks Herbalife Nutrition for putting together this virtual run and keeping us fit, healthy and motivated.
