At the 22nd Singapore Environmental Achievement Awards (SEAA) at the Pan Pacific Singapore today, 11 different organisations were recognised as Stewards of Environmental Excellence, by the Singapore Environmental Council.
To Recognise Organisations With An Interest In Environmental Conservation
The Singapore Environmental Council, which was established in 1995, is an independently managed, non-profit and non-governmental organisation that influences thinking of sustainability issues and coordinates environmental efforts in Singapore.
Said Jen Teo, Singapore Environmental Council (SEC) Executive Director, “We began the SEAA 22 years ago to recognise organisations with an interest in conserving the environment and have given out more than 100 awards to organisations for their environmental stewardship.”
Teo also added, “The SEAA has made tremendous headway in spurring organisations across various industries to embed the environment and sustainability in their business strategy and decision making. Purposeful action by these organisations to be green in the ways they operate can have a ripple effect on their employees and the wider community to secure a greener and more liveable Singapore, for both present and future generations.”
How The Finalists Were Assessed
The finalists had been evaluated for their commitment to sustainability and environmental excellence by a dedicated panel, assessing beyond each organisation’s green business efforts to make an impact on surrounding communities.
And start-up and small-and-medium sized enterprises were considered as thoroughly as those of larger organisations.
Guest Of Honour
The event’s guest of honour had been Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and he presented the accolades to the winners.
The Winners
And the winners came from a wide range of industries such as banking, shipping, logistics, and transportation, engineering and technology, as well as community living, real estate and venue management.
