Hot on the heels of their improved Pan Pizza which had been launched recently, Pizza Hut has continued to usher in affordable everyday luxuries with the new Cheesy 7 Pan Pizza.
Beginning in 1981 with its first outlet at Jalan Jelita, Pizza Hut Singapore is now the largest pizza chain restaurant in Singapore, with 60 outlets across the island.
The company has an unmatched passion for and celebration of their pizzas and aims to deliver pizzas, pastas and other quality foods that are always fresh, but also bringing to their customers, a casual atmosphere that is fun and friendly at the same time.
Blends seven types of cheeses together
And the company’s new pizza, as the name suggests, which blends together seven distinctly different types of cheeses – the mild Swiss Emmental, the sharp and hard English Cheddar, the aromatic Italian Parmesan, the semi-hard Dutch Edam and Gouda, the pliant Italian Mozzarella, and rounding up with smooth English Cream cheese.
So as such, the pizza chain’s new creation is described as bringing customers an indescribable taste and texture of pure ecstasy, thus resulting in a myriad of cheesy flavours that any cheese lover would savour.
Said Lee Wei Yi, the Marketing Manager at Pizza Hut Singapore, “Singaporeans love cheese. You see little pockets of revolution with cheese as toppings on ramen, rice, curry, toast, you name it. However the luxury of the best-loved cheeses are uncommon, and yet there is a hidden desire in many of us to want a deliciously melded concoction of these cheeses in a form we love and enjoy – the pizza.”
She added “So when our chefs dug deep into the kitchen for months on end, what they found was the very essence of our philosophy of ‘Your Slice Of Simple’ where the seven best-loved cheeses from Switzerland, United Kingdom, Italy and The Netherlands, were converged together into the most delicious and crispy pan pizza you can enjoy at any time when you have cheese cravings, with your loved ones and peers, without breaking the bank.”
Pizza Hut delivered a Cheesy 7 Pan Pizza
Earlier this week, Pizza Hut delivered my family a Cheesy 7 Pan Pizza, so that we could have the chance to try out their new creation.
What I had received had been the Big Cheesy Box – this had consisted of an Original Cheesy 7 Pan Pizza (9” Regular size) together with an assortment of side dishes – these were the Country Pie, Chicken Tenders, Wings and Breadsticks.
And as the standard items with Pizza Hut deliveries too, Chilli Flakes and Parmesan Cheese were also in the box.
This meal is priced at SGD $39.00 per order, and with an additional SGD $4.00 delivery surcharge (excluding GST) too.
On the day of the pizza delivery, I had been originally informed that my pizza would arrive between 6pm to 7pm. However I admit that I had been pleasantly surprised when the pizza box came somewhat earlier than expected – at 5.45pm.
I have to point out too, that this was actually the first time that a Pizza Hut delivery had arrived earlier than I’d expected; I remember that previous times that I am too lazy to go out or cook and so would call Pizza Hut delivery, my delivery tends to take quite a while to get to me, regardless of the time frame that I am quoted by the restaurant.
Eating the Cheesy 7 Pan Pizza
I love cheese, so I dug into the pizza with complete relish.
And upon immediately biting into the pizza, the flavours coming from all the various cheeses inside had been melded together so well that I could not really detect all of the different cheeses at the beginning.
However, after eating about half a slice of the new pizza, I think that the flavours from the stronger cheeses had begun to slowly emerge, namely the English cheddar, together with a slight hint of the Parmesan cheese.
As well though, I could also taste the rich creaminess of the English cream cheese at the centre of each slice of pizza. I really liked this, because the cream cheese had helped to moisten the pizza considerably, so that it was not dry. This cheese is generally not common in a pizza, and I would say that I had really liked this addition.
Texture-wise, I would say that the pizza was quite amazing. The soft, hard and chewy textures of all the different cheeses came together very nicely and so this combined to form a lovely cheesy sensation in my mouth.
Unfortunately, though the pizza had been still warm when I ate it, the crust was not as crispy as I would have liked, especially for the parts that were nearer to the centre of the pizza.
As well, I must also point out that usually I take an extra serving of Parmesan cheese with my pizza, but this was this first time that I did not feel the need to, thanks to the large amount of amazing, cheesy goodness that was part of Pizza Hut’s new creation.
Overall though, it had certainly been a rather rich and cheesy pizza, but for a cheese lover like myself, it was simply perfect for me. So I would say that this is a pizza that I would not hesitate to eat again, if the opportunity arises.
Side Dishes
And for the side dishes, my favourite one of the lot had been the Country Pie, which is basically a combination of roasted chicken and turkey bacon, complemented by onions, mushrooms and tomato sauce, and covered in velvety mash and parmesan cheese.
I really enjoyed the various flavours and textures from the Country Pie, and when eaten all together, the combination inside the mouth was simply divine. I thought that it had also complemented the pizza very well when eaten together, too.
The Chicken Tenders, which are basically breaded chicken fillets fried to a golden brown perfection, were unfortunately not as crispy as I would have liked after delivery, though they were still warm when I dug into them.
So I had felt that this side dish may be best when dining in, rather than taking it out. As well, I felt that the chicken meat was also slightly on the dry side.
The Honey Roasted Chicken Wings are generally juicy mid-joint wings coated with sweet honey and then roasted to golden brown perfection. These were still warm, succulent and moist when I dug into them, and I thought that the very slight hint of sweetness from the honey went well with the savoury natural flavours from the chicken.
And finally, for the Cinnamon BreadSticks, these are essentially oven-baked breadsticks sprinkled with cinnamon and drizzled with condensed milk.
I thought that having this item present inside the Big Cheesy Box helped to add a hint of sweetness to the overall meal, when you take a bite of a BreadStick followed by a bite of pizza. In this way, it had complemented the savouriness coming from the pizza, quite well.
However when gobbling down a whole piece on its own though, the Cinnamon BreadSticks can be a tad sweet, and the sweetness can feel somewhat jelak after taking several mouthfuls.
Depending on how hungry you are, I would say that one serving of the Big Cheesy Box that I had received, can probably feed a family of about three to four people.
But if you just want to taste the pizza though, the regular 9” Cheesy 7 Pizza (which we had) is also available, as an a-la-carte order, for dine-in at SGD $23.50 and delivery or takeaway at SGD $25.50.
But for those who have bigger stomachs though, there is also a larger 12” Cheesy 7 Pizza, which is available for dine-in at SGD $29.50 and delivery or takeaway at SGD $33.20, as an a-la-carte order.
Cheesy 7 Pan Pizza to be introduced in two phases
From now to 12 September, cheese lovers can enjoy the Cheesy 7 Pizza in the Original, Hawaiian and Chicken Pepperoni flavours.
And then from 13 September to 7 November, Cheesy 7 Pizza will be made available in a new variant – Meaty Medley Trio, and as well, the Cheesy Original 7 will still be available too.
