Make Your Boba Drinks and Pearls @ Create by The Alley

Taiwanese bubble tea brand, The Alley, is no stranger to Singaporeans, with 11 outlets located islandwide. Now they have launched a new and unique hands-on experimental concept cafe called Create by The Alley.

Located at the Tampines One Mall in the east, this new outlet will now serve as The Alley’s flagship store in Singapore and is a testament to the brand’s mission to further grow its portfolio as a leading bubble tea brand.

Said Alvin Youw, Director, The Alley Singapore, “With Create by The Alley, we’re offering our customers a chance to unleash their creativity and make their own drinks and desserts from a selection of The Alley’s top global favourites.”

With the new concept cafe, The Alley will offer seasonal experiential sessions to customers such as giving them the chance to create unique recipes from scratch.

For example guests can try to create their own drink, a thoughtfully designed hands-on session with simple-to-follow recipes to craft their own personalised beverages from S$7.90.

Members of the media were invited to Create by The Alley where we experienced making our own drink.

There were three drinks for us to choose from at the session. These were:

  • Brown Sugar Deerioca Fresh Milk
  • Passionfruit Green Tea
  • Strawberry Green Tea

Deeroica is The Alley’s name for their special signature tapioca pearls, which are made with specially formulated milled flour and freshly prepared every few hours for the perfect texture and bite.

The drinks are easy to make and the step-by-step instructions are laid out clearly and simple to follow. It was quite a fun experience to make the drink.

I went for the Brown Sugar Deerioca Fresh Milk, the crowd favourite, and my photographer had the Strawberry green tea.

When the platter of ingredients were laid out in front of me, I felt like a kid in a candy store as I figured out how to put them together. Honestly I also have to admit that at first, the temptation to munch on the pearls on their own was definitely there. But yes, most of the tapioca pearls made it into the drink.

I would say that this is a great and entertaining experience for people of all ages, ranging from children and youths to corporate bonding sessions. Everyone loves bubble tea.

At the media session, we also made our own pearls separately, which we later got to eat with one of The Alley’s newly launched curated ice desserts, the Royal No. 9 Milk Tea Soft Serve (S$3.90).

It was quite fun to get hands-on to make the pearls and the instructions were easy to follow. This experience brought me back to my childhood days of moulding and handling play dough. And when the time arrived to eat them, the pearls also went well with the soft serve, which had a clear boba milk tea flavour and tasted deliciously cold and refreshing.

Said Samantha Lim, Brand Manager, The Alley Singapore, “We have noticed that Singaporeans are increasingly seeking memorable experiences to enjoy with their loved ones. This is why we wanted to create a curated space and offer so much more by allowing customers to create their drinks and desserts at the revamped cafe.”

As part of their local community engagement efforts, The Alley collaborates with young entrepreneurs, artists and creators in Singapore to showcase their talents. Their outlets serve as spaces where local creativity and innovation are celebrated.

One such entrepreneur is Dylan Chua, Singaporean graphic artist and designer and the founder of his own company, DCHTOONS, who has created a line of special bubble tea themed stickers in collaboration with The Alley.

The stickers are all extremely cute and we got to select some of them to bring home with us. They were all so whimsical and adorable I didn’t know which ones to choose!

Whether you are looking for a refreshing drink, cosy place to relax or to take part in an interactive workshop, Create by The Alley is committed to creating memorable experiences for customers, one beverage at a time. Experience the perfect blend of flavour, creativity and community at The Alley.
