To many people, including me, Mac ’N’ Cheese is seen as the ultimate comfort food. 

Personally, I remember that ever since I had been a little girl, I have always loved to dig into a piping hot bowl of Mac ’N’ Cheese, because of its warm, moist, cheesy goodness.

A New Spin On Mac ’N’ Cheese

And now, KFC Singapore has put a new spin on the classic Mac ’N’ Cheese with the introduction of the KFC Mac ’N’ Cheese Zinger burger.

The leading quick service restaurant chain in the chicken category in Singapore, KFC is renowned for serving its customers with delicious, complete family meals at affordable prices. The first KFC outlet opened in Singapore in 1977 and today, the chain has 84 stores island-wide.

Two Hearty Mac ’N’ Cheese Patties

The new creation consists of two hearty patties moulded from Mac ’N’ Cheese and fried to crispy perfection.

 And layered between these patties is KFC’s signature Zinger fillet, and then stacked with crispy turkey bacon, lettuce and finally, drizzled with KFC Cheese Sauce.

Media Tasting Session For KFC Mac ’N’ Cheese Zinger

I was recently invited to a KFC media tasting session where I got to try the new KFC Mac ’N’ Cheese Zinger Burger. I admit that since I love my Mac ’N’ Cheese, this was a creation that I could not wait to sink my teeth into.

At the tasting, we were each served with a KFC Mac ’N’ Cheese Zinger Box which comes together with one Mac ’N’ Cheese Zinger, 1pc chicken, 1 Regular Whipped Potato, 1 Regular Fries and 1 Regular Pepsi, worth S$10.95 for both dine-in and take-away orders.

What The Burger Tastes Like

Digging my teeth into the KFC Mac ’N’ Cheese Zinger Burger for the first time, I should say that the cheesy flavour was definitely apparent, in the new product, as I could pick it up immediately, and the crunchiness coming from the breaded Mac ’N’ Cheese patty made the burger even more yummy, too. I’d say that this was definitely a unique spin, indeed, on one of my favourite comfort foods.

And at the same time, too, the spiciness from the chicken patty hit my tongue, adding yet another layer of flavour to the cheesy taste.

It was definitely delicious – in fact, I admit that when I had been taking a video of myself biting into the new Zinger burger, I ended up taking two bites rather than the one bite that I had initially intended.

However, at the same time, I also have to mention that the burger can feel quite greasy after a while, because both the chicken patty and the Mac ’N’ Cheese patties are deep-fried. So this may be an indulgence that is best shared with a friend. Otherwise it could feel a bit jelak as you keep on eating.

But as a whole, I thought that it was a very interesting and unusual combination of flavours and textures that had surprisingly complemented each other quite well, and with me being a cheese lover, I have to admit that this new Mac ’N’ Cheese creation is something that I would be happy to order again from KFC.
