Did you know that one donut contains less sugar than a Subway 6” teriyaki chicken sandwich?
So if you are looking for a snack with less sugar, you may actually be better off making your way to Tangs and buying that Krispy Kreme doughnut – instead of going for a Subway sandwich.
Here are a few foods that are supposed to be “healthy” – but in fact, contain more sugar than those famous Original Glazed doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.
A Subway 6” Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki Sandwich
Usually when people think of Subway, healthy sandwiches come to mind, because the popular sandwich chain markets itself as being a healthy food outlet.
But a Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sandwich contains 17 grams of sugar, while a Krispy Kreme doughnut has 10 grams.
A bottle of Vitamin Water
Sure, this drink is supposed to contain vitamins and minerals. So people buy a bottle, thinking that they are getting something healthy and sugarless.
But in their marketing campaign, the manufacturers are not telling you something – that the drink also contains sugar. You have to read the label really closely in order to find this out.
A 600 ml bottle of vitamin water actually contains 33 grams of sugar, which is equivalent to 3.3 Krispy Kreme doughnuts. So if you want to reduce your sugar intake, it is better off having one Krispy Kreme doughnut as a snack rather than guzzling down a bottle of vitamin water.
Yoplait Original Flavoured Yoghurt
One serving of the full fat, or Original version, contains more than 20 grams of sugar – to tempt the taste buds. So if you are trying to choose between a full fat Yoplait and a Krispy Kreme doughnut, go for the doughnut anytime – it will help to lower your sugar intake.
In fact, one standard size serving of this yoghurt contains 27 grams of sugar – which is equivalent to 2.7 Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
Grande Starbucks Latte
Coffee is supposed to have benefits because it helps to prevent ailments such as Type II diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s Disease and it also raises your body’s metabolism rate.
But one cup of coffee, especially Starbucks Grand latte, contains more sugar compared to a doughnut. In fact, a standard cup of this latte has 17 grams of sugar, compared to 10 grams in the Krispy Kreme doughnut.
