Beginning from today onwards, all McDonald®’s outlets across Singapore are launching the new Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger, which features a juicy peppery chicken patty topped with tomato jalapeño relish, sliced red capsicum, tomatoes, white cheddar cheese, crispy whole lettuce leaf and spicy tomato mayonnaise.
All of these are then encased between semolina buns.
Bought the new Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger
I braved the queues at the nearby McDonald®’s Singapore outlet to buy the new Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger as an Extra Value Meal, for my lunch today. How did this new burger stack up?
As a whole, I would say that burger does live up to its expectations – it is rather spicy. However, the spiciness does not hit you immediately – I found that after the very first bite of this burger, I could not detect much of the the spicy note.
Rather, I have to point out that the spiciness comes in the form of an aftertaste, and it will definitely set in after you have had about three or four bites. This was when I felt it slowly, but surely hitting me. It wasn’t overwhelming, but was certainly apparent.
But this was not the only flavour that I was able to pick up. Besides the spiciness, I could also detect a bit of a sour note to the burger, as well as a slight hint of sweetness, probably from the mixture of sauces and ingredients that had been used in the preparation process of the burger.
Overall I thought that it was a pretty interesting combination of tastes, which all came together to delight the taste buds.
As well, there is also a combination of several textures to the burger – I particularly liked the crispiness and lightness from the breaded chicken patty, and though the meat may have been a tad dry when eaten on its own, the moisture coming from the fresh vegetables and cheese pack plenty of punch if you take a big mouthful, eating everything together.
And the softness of the semolina buns also absorbs and soaks up the sauces, and this makes the soft buns melt in your mouth when you eat the burger.
I would say that this was a rather enjoyable burger as a whole that I had rather liked eating, and it is a good alternative to the classic McSpicy® – which has been available since 1999 and consists of a chicken thigh sandwiched between a bed of crisp lettuce and toasted sesame seed buns.
So now if I am craving for something spicy and my family or friends want to head to a McDonald®’s outlet, this means that I now have two different options to pick from.
Th Red Hot Spicy Peppers Burger is available as an Extra Value Meal complete with Medium Fries and a Small Coke from S$8.00, or a-la-carte from S$6.25 after breakfast hours, while stocks last.
Chocolatey Sundae Treats
Besides the burger though, McDonald®’s Singapore has also just launched a line-up of new chocolatey desserts to soothe your taste buds after having had the new spicy burger for your lunch or dinner..
Available at all desert kiosks across the island, customers will have a choice between a Hershey’s Chocolate Soft Serve in the form of either a Cone, Sundae or OREO® McFlurry®. And if this isn’t enough chocolate for you, you can also add chocolate dip on the top, too.
Eager to try out this new sweet creation for myself, I also bought a Hershey’s Chocolate Soft Serve OREO® McFlurry® to end my lunch on a sugary note, today.
When I took a spoonful of the Hershey’s Chocolate Soft Serve OREO® McFlurry®, I could definitely taste a smooth chocolatey note in the ice cream. As a chocolate lover, I would say that I had preferred this creation over the McDonald®’s standard vanilla soft serve.
I also have to mention that the flavour of the chocolate in general, is very mild, and nowhere near as rich or intense, as some other chocolate-based ice creams that I have eaten, probably because the percentage of the chocolate used in the creation process, was toned down significantly, in order to cater to the masses.
I think the Hershey’s Chocolate Soft Serve ice cream can be quite addictive to those who like milk chocolate, so if you fall into this category, do watch your portion sizes.
The OREO® present in the ice cream also added some texture to the ice cream, in the form of a slight crunchy note. I thought that this was quite nice; unfortunately I also found that the Oreo® cookies got soggy and mushy pretty quickly, though.
The Hershey’s Chocolate Soft Serve Sundae will set you back by S$2.30 and on the other hand, the Hershey’s Chocolate Soft Serve OREO® McFlurry® is priced at S$3.00 per serving.
OREO® Twist
Finally, in order to cool off, there is also the new OREO® Twist, which comes in the form of either a Mocha Frappe with OREO® or else a Caramel Frappe with OREO®.
Both drinks are available at all McCafe outlets across Singapore, from S$3.95 while stocks last… in order to end your meal with a sugary drink.
