McDonald’s® Singapore is paying a special tribute to our healthcare and frontline workers this August with the launch of the “big thanks” initiative. This is the fast food restaurant’s way of recognising frontline heroes for their courage, selflessness and dedication in the battle against Covid-19.
To show their thanks, customers can purchase the “big thanks” burger, which is a Big Mac, at any McDonald’s® Singapore restaurant. For every order of a “big thanks” burger, McDonald’s® Singapore will donate a complimentary burger to a frontline hero.
Said Kenneth Chan, Managing Director, McDonald’s® Singapore, “The unprecedented pandemic has changed the way we live, work and support one another. As we celebrate national day in August, it is only fitting that we pay a special tribute to our healthcare and frontline workers who have been tirelessly fighting Covid-19n and taking care of us. This small gesture of appreciation on our part is our way of saying thanks, and we humbly invite Singaporeans to join us in showing support for them.”
In all, McDonald’s® Singapore aims to donate over 25,000 burgers to heroes from organisations such as the National Center for Infectious diseases, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, SCDF emergency medical services, National University Hospital, Singapore General Hospital and Orange Valley nursing home.
As well, besides medical staff, cleaners and administrative staff, who are also frontline workers, will also receive burgers.
And with their purchase of a burger, customers are also invited to share messages of appreciation to frontline heroes by taking a photo of their “big thanks” burger and burger box, penning a caption expressing their gratitude and posting this on social media, tagging @mcdsg and hash tagging #mcdbigthanks.
This “big thanks” campaign is recognised by Eat for Good, a collaborative initiative by National volunteer and Philanthropy Center’s Company of Good that aims to bring stakeholders in the food & beverage space together to do good.
