With one in three adults currently overweight and one in ten living with diabetes, the global demand for healthier food is growing.
Most popular cookie in Subway Singapore stores
Therefore Alchemy FoodTech, an award-winning Singapore based carbohydrates and sugar reduction company is expanding into sugar reduction solutions.
Their latest innovations are now being used in Subway Singapore’s most popular cookie island-wide, the Chocolate Chip Cookie Siew Dai – in Hokkien, Siew Dai this means Less Sugar.
Less sugar but still the same delicious flavour
Alchemy Fibre Technology helped to reduce the sugar content from the 17.5 grams in the original chocolate chip cookie to less than half in the lower sugar version, while maintaining the same amount of chocolate goodness.
Today the Subway Chocolate Chip Cookie Siew Dai is the most popular cookie at stores island-wide.
Invited to try the cookies
Members of the media were invited to sample the Subway Chocolate Chip Cookie Siew Dai. They know me well – I am a sucker for anything with chocolate in it. The cookies arrived earlier this week.
Taste test
What was the taste test for the cookies like?
Measuring about 9.5cm in diameter like most Subway cookies, these were brown cookies which comprised of small pieces of chocolate chips.
It tasted mildly fragrant with a distinctive chocolate chips flavour. The texture of the cookie was soft and chewy, with a good mouth feel, but slightly sweet.
And upon finishing the cookie, there was a sweet aftertaste left behind in the mouth. This could be due to small bits of cookie stuck behind in the teeth or sweetener lingered in the mouth.
I have previously tried the original Subway chocolate chip cookies and in summary, I think that the new version is definitely a healthier improvement over the original cookies.
Available at all Subway stores across Singapore
The cookies are available for purchase at Subway stores islandwide from $1.60 each. What are you waiting for? Head down to your nearest outlet and get yours now.
