A Doctor of Chiropractic at Family Health Chiropractic Center as well as a South East Asian (SEA) Games Marathoner, Dr. Ashley Liew is aiming to run a total of 210km within 21 days – at the SMOO Challenge 2021.
A partnership between SMU Challenge and the larger SMU community
The SMOO Challenge is a partnership between Singapore Management University (SMU) Challenge with the larger SMU community to raise funds for SMU students in great financial need.
The challenge takes place in the form of a virtual running race, where the SMU community is collectively aiming to run a total distance of 50,000km from 3rd to 24th September 2021 in support of the SMU Bursary Fund.
Ashley hopes to raise $8,000
An SMU alumnus, Ashley, with his own efforts, hopes to raise $8,000 for the SMU Bursary Fund, which provides financial aid for students in need, especially important during this Covid-19 pandemic.
So far he has raised $4,328.
Through sports, Ashley himself has picked up many life lessons; from an overweight boy with low self esteem, he not only shed 24kg, but also represented Singapore in the process, having taken part in the 2013 and 2015 SEA Games Men’s Marathon events.
Contributing back to the SMU community
With his running efforts in, Ashley hopes to contribute back to the SMU community and uplift the spirts of those who have been affected by Covid-19. This is no mean feat.
“This participation also fulfils my ‘why’ in life, which is to give, love and serve out of my own abundance,” says Ashley.
