Income Eco Run is back on Sunday 8th June 2025

The Income Eco Run (IER) returns to the Marina Barrage on Sunday 8th June and promises to be bigger and better than ever to make Income Insurance Limited’s 55th Anniversary.

IER is Income’s flagship event to champion climate-positive action and sustainable lifestyle practices through the theme, “how far will you go for zero waste?”

There are five run routes to cater to differing abilities of runners – 3km, 5km, 10km, 15km and 21.1km. As well, there is a kids category that encourages children aged between four and 12 to run either 700m or 1km for zero waste.

Runners will pass iconic landmarks of Singapore such as Gardens by the Bay and the Singapore Flyer. The run starts and ends at the Marina Barrage.

For every kilometre clocked, Income Insurance will match one dollar in support of green initiatives, aiming to double the funds raised last year.

As well, two new initiatives have been introduced in support of Income 55.

  • Complimentary participation for the first 1,000 persons aged 55 and above, marking Income’s long-standing commitment to promote active ageing and the well-being of seniors. This has been fully redeemed, however, at the time of writing.
  • 55km Ultra Marathon, which is by-invite-only, to set the standard and be the showcase for eco-conscious endurance running. Ultra runners exemplify discipline, perseverance and resourcefulness, all qualities that are needed to drive sustainable change.

As well, for the first time, a 1km Pets category will be introduced where dog and cat owners can walk alongside their pets to support the cause. This walk aims to promote the bond between pets and their owners, as well as fostering eco-friendly habits among pet owners.

For the third year running, plastic-free cups will be used at all hydration stations of IER 2025. About 73,000 hydration cups are projected to be used and saved from the landfill.

Event tees will also be made from 100% recycled materials and are available only as an opt-in purchase. Income encourages runners to wear their own tee-shirts or past years’ Income Eco Run tees to reduce waste.

Running bibs will, once again, be 65% smaller than regular race bibs and all adult participants will reduce e-certificates instead of a finisher medal.

For the kids category, seed paper bibs will be given out to allow young participants to plant and grow their own vegetables or herbs at home after the event.

As well, kids’ medals will be made from recycled plastic bottle caps and these can double up as a coaster.

Banana peels will also be collected and composted. Last year 66kg of banana peels were composited and general waste per pax dropped by 25%.

Race pack collection cum the IER Eco Festival will be held on 31 May and 1 June at Guoco Tower. This aims to raise awareness and boost eco-friendly activities with booths from diverse green partners. As well, there will be an IER eco village on race day, to provide an accessible platform for event participants and spectators to support waste practices such as recycling and upcycling.

Said Andrew Yeo, CEO, Income Insurance, “IER is more than just a run. It is a movement that unites people from all walks of life in pursuit of a sustainable future. Together, let us take action to protect our future and that of our planet. Whether you are a senior participant, a pet owner, an ultra marathoner or a leisure runner, there is a place for everyone at IER 2025.”
