OCBC’s social responsibility programme, teach a child to cycle, is back, in partnership with Decathlon and the Singapore Cycling Federation (SCF).
43 beneficiaries between eight to 12 years old were taught fundamental skills from SCF trainers in three sessions.
As well, each beneficiary also received a brand new bicycle, safety gear worth $100 and a slot for the Mighty Savers Kids and Family Rides on 11th May.
The beneficiaries were selected from partners Care Corner Singapore, SportsCares and Beyond Social Services.
The programme recognises the importance of cycling as a life skill. Teaching the children how to cycle instils confidence, resilience and accomplishment in the kids.
Said Muhammad Arsyad Zafri bin Abdullah, aged 11, “I’m very happy to be able to learn a new skill by being a part of Teach-a-Child-to-Cycle, and excited to take part in the Mighty Savers Kids Rides at OCBC Cycle 2024.”
He continued, “This programme has made me more interested in sports. I hope to continue cycling after the event!”
OCBC Cycle takes place on 11 and 12 May at the Singapore Sports Hub across 10 categories catering to cyclists of all abilities, ages and walks of life.
I have been taking part in OCBC Cycle for the past few years and I always enjoy the experience of cycling on closed roads.
Usually I take part in the Sportive ride mass participation event and it is always a blast.
Those who are interested to be a part of Singapore’s biggest cycling event this year, can register online at www.ocbccycle.com. So what are you waiting for?
