ASICS recently invited members of the media to a sneak preview of their upcoming Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection Launches.
Features the latest collections
The event, which took place at the SPRMRKT Daily at 41 Robertson Quay, featured the latest collections from the brand’s ASICS, ASICSTIGER and Onitsuka Tiger ranges.
ASICS is the original sports brand that caters to all the fitness enthusiasts around the world.
The ASICSTIGER brand, meanwhile, brings a modern, stylish flair to the discerning sneaker-head.
And on the other hand, Onitsuka Tiger is the most identifiable and fashionable shoe brand for the fashionistas.
ASICS Shoe Range
As a marathon runner, I admit that I had been most impressed with the new ASICS running shoe ranges, which had featured some new models such as the recently-launched GEL-KAYANO 25 amongst others.
The flagship long distance running shoe model for maximum protection and stability, the GEL-KAYANO 25 model features additional cushioning with the new FlyteFoam PROPEL and improved durability with FlyteFoam LYTE. Comfort and fit is also enhanced in the new model, as well as having adequate toe-box room.
There are shoes to cater to all types of runners though, from road running and marathons, to track and trail running, as well as those who need to fuel their need for speed.
I noted that the ASICS sporty range too, has a few models of tennis and court shoes, to cater to those doing ball sports, as well. So those taking part in such sports are not left out.
ASICSTIGER Sports Style Range
And in the ASICSTIGER range, one of the shoes that had caught my eye was the GEL-LYTE Keisei, which builds on the GEL-LYTE franchise – that focuses on sporty chic with clean lines and a beautiful tooling. It also features modern designs that are both feminine and wearable.
Onitsuka Tiger Fashion Range
As for the Onitsuka Tiger shoes, I had thought the Autumn/Winter 2018 collection were rather unique and eye-catching, and were notably different to most lifestyle shoes out there on the market. This is what ASICS means by innovation in their shoe creations.
For example, there is the Onitsuka Tiger x Andrea Pompilio range, which features items with a modern take but was inspired by 1920s New York urban fashion crossed with apparel from a different era.
And there is also the Mexico 66 SD shoes, which is the update to a classic Onitsuka Tiger model of the same name. The new models feature a key update, AmpliFoam, which is a feature that has long been used in ASICS running shoe models in order to improve cushioning. And for better durability too, the new outer sole is made of rubber with excellent grip and wear resistance.
Live Fashion Show
During the launch event, guests were also treated to a live fashion show too. This featured the various new collections by the brand, as well as a special guitar performance.
At the fashion show, the models had tried to mimic the sports relating to the items that they were wearing, for example, when they were in running gear, the models tried running on the catwalk rather than casually strolling down the runway to show off the running apparel. Though I guess that this was supposed to be innovative, I needed time to adapt myself to this show.
ASICS Staff Were at hand
And during the launch event, ASICS staff were also on hand at the different shoe sections, in order to take questions and explain the features of the various shoes to members of the media at the event.
I had thought that this gesture had been rather useful in helping us to understand more about the various shoes that were available.
As a whole, I must say that the ASICS Autumn/Winter 2018 Collection Launch Event has definitely whetted my appetite of what is to come from the brand.
