Made from 100 per cent juice with no sugar added as well as no artificial sweeteners, F&N have just released a new Fruit Tree Fresh mixed Juice Drink comprising of Apple, Beetroot and Carrot. This drink, according to the manufacturers, is high in Vitamin C, to give the body an antioxidant boost to stay healthy.

And according to F&N, the drink also has little fat, cholesterol, sodium but plenty of complex carbohydrates and other essential nutrients from the ingredients used to make it.

Health benefits of naturally brightly coloured foods

The brightly coloured vegetables like beetroots and carrots contain naturally occurring phytochemical, for example, naturally occurring red foods like beetroots contain the antioxidants lycopene and anthocyanin, according to the Journal of Food Composition and Analysis, published in 2010.

Lycopene aids in the body’s assistance and production of Vitamin A which maintains the skin, as well as supports the functioning of the eyes and the immune system.

Besides Vitamin A, beetroot is also high in Vitamin B which helps to optimise the body’s natural metabolic system. At the same time, beetroot is also delicious as a food when consumed in solid or liquid form.

Tasting the drink

F&N sent me a couple of 1L packets.

F&N recently delivered a couple of their 1L packets of their Fruit Tree Fresh Apple, Beetroot & Carrot Fruit Juice Drink recently, for me to try.

When I initially poured the drink out of the package, it left red stains in the glass, due to the beetroot. I am not a beetroot person, but the drink tastes surprisingly pleasant. The drink has a subtle beetroot flavour with a tinge of apple to it, that is not overwhelming.

And although the drink is advertised as having No Sugar added, I felt that the drink still tasted sweet – but this is probably due to the natural sweetness of the apples that the drink has.

One serving of the F&N Fruit Tree Fresh Apple, Beetroot & Carrot drink contains 100 per cent of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin C, which helps to maintain and boost the immune system.

The drink carries the Healthier Choice Symbol by the Health Promotion Board Singapore.

The drink is available in both 250m bottle and 1L packet format.
