Today, Singapore Cancer Society (SCS) commemorates World Cancer Day (WCD) with 12 celebrity-influencers and 10 landmarks who have pledged their commitment to raise greater awareness to support the community and fight cancer.
WCD is a global initiative
WCD, which takes place worldwide on 4th February each year, is the uniting global initiative under which the world comes together to raise the profile of cancer in a positive and inspiring way, highlighting the need for urgent action to increase early stage cancer detection, screening and diagnosis to improve the chances of survival for cancer patients.
As part of WCD, there will be iconic buildings across the globe lit up in orange and blue as a symbolic act of hope symbolising the fight against cancer.
An online campaign by SCS
And on the Singapore front, SCS has rolled out an online campaign with the aim of getting people to increase awareness on cancer by learning more about the symptoms, go for screenings and spreading the message on social media to encourage others to adopt such behaviour.
As Singapore’s leading charity against cancer, SCS has railed support from celebrities-influencers and organisations to encourage people to take action and reduce cancer, by educating the public about the importance of managing one’s health and staying cancer-free.
Showing solidarity in the fight against cancer

Continued Ching, “We are heartened by the overwhelming support from organisations and individuals from all walks of life who have come forward to show support on World Cancer Day. This signifies solidarity in the ongoing fight against cancer and a strong testament to our message that no one needs to walk this journey alone.”
