They do not look out of place in the gym. And at the same time, they will blend in well during a casual outing with friends in the city.
I am referring to the new Puma Fierce shoes, which are essentially gym shoes but which can be worn even on a city outing. Said Eleanor Wang, 30, Assistant Marketing Manager with Puma South East Asia, “The core of the Puma Fierce is a gym training shoe but it is also designed in a fashionable way – because sports style is in trend now and people like to wear sports shoes out. So these can be worn both in the gym and on the city streets.”
Some of the main features of the shoes include a slip-on bootie construction for stability and support during workouts, as well as pull-tabs located at the tongue and heel for easy taking the shoes on and off. There is also an exaggerated heel thickness to add stability as well as a a rubber outsole to give the shoes some additional grip.
Target audiences are those who like to look stylish at the gym
Wang added “Our target audience for the Puma Fierce shoes, are people who go to the gym often and at the same time care about looking fashionable when they work out. These people should possibly also be willing to try new things too, as this is not a conventional looking gym shoe.”
Wang also pointed out that for those who prefer conventional shoes, Puma also has some other models available as well.
Flagship product at the new Misfit store – 313@Somerset Mall
The Puma Fierce shoes are currently the flagship product available at the brand new Misfit store, which opened its doors last month at 313@Somerset Mall.
Said Wang, “The Misfit store was launched last month and they are a Multi Label women’s sports training store and the only one of its kind in Singapore at this stage. Puma is lucky that they are showcasing our latest training shoe.”
The new Misfit Store does not just sell Puma products though. Though they are in collaboration with the Puma brand, there are also other brands available on site such as Reebok and Under Armour.
She added, “Misfit has good synergy with Puma, as the store as well as the interior design fits in with our brand and there is good balance between the various brands at Misfit.”
Invited to the new store launch to try out a Barre workout
To mark both the launch of the Misfit store as well as the launch of the new Puma Fierce shoes, Puma had invited me to participate in a barre workout within the new store.
When I first got to the Misfit store, I found that there had been exercise mats already spread out, in preparation of what was to come. Dumbbells of either 0.5kg or 1kg were also placed on the mats, depending on the weight that we had wanted to work with.
Comprising of ballet techniques, yoga, pilates and strength training, this barre workout was a total body workout and was quite rigorous, taxing and intense. There were plenty of movements to engage all parts of the body, ranging from planks and mountain climbers to engage the core, to weights to strength the upper body and even a portion whereby we strengthened our legs with the weights. Balancing was also an integral part of the workout, much like how balancing and standing on a single leg, is quite vital for ballerinas.
Workout ties in with the intended purpose and use of the Puma Fierce shoes
The choice of the barre workout had been because according to Puma, the Fierce shoes are said to be inspired by dance movements and designed with rigorous training needs in mind.
As the workout was supposed to be a graceful, yet a rigorous one, this tied in nicely with the intended purpose of the Puma Fierce shoes – which are fashionable yet tough and can withstand some degree of intense gym work.
