Billed on the company’s official website as a “revolutionary new product with unparalleled comfort”, Telic Sandals are the perfect recovery shoes to put on your weary feet after a hard long run, or during those long days walking or standing on your feet.
And these “unparalleled” comfort levels are due to the materials that are used in the shoe according to David Heng, 28, Project Manager (Tactical Performance) at Force21 Equipment Pte Ltd (FiTSA), who helps in the distribution and the selling of the Telic sandals in Singapore.
The idea for the Telic Sandals had been first conceptualised in July 2012 in the United States and since then they have taken the United States by storm. Now, last week these popular recovery sandals had arrived in Singapore.
Novalon material makes the shoes feather light and pillow soft
Said David, “The Telic Sandals are made of Novalon material and the unique blend of elasto- polymers make Telic Sandals feather light and pillow soft, to provide exceptional cushioning, rebounding and elasticity, for a secure and snug fit.”
The revolutionary Novalon material is also advertised as being latex, allergen and toxin free, which means that it will also suit people with sensitive skin.
Added David, “The Telic Sandals help to offload pressure from your feet due to its Novalon technology. After a long day of standing or walking at work, or after an intense workout such as a long run, you just want to relief your feet from further stress to let it rest and recover.”
Textured footbed with a gentle massaging effect
The comfort level and ability to offload pressure on the feet, is thanks to the textured footbed on the Telic Sandals, which has a gentle massaging effect and helps to wick away moisture while allowing cooling air flow under the feet. According to the Telic sandal manufacturers, the shoes are advertised as being able to give the sensation that you are floating above the ground.
David added, “So Telic Sandals are suitable for all walks of life regardless if you are a competitive athlete or a blue collar worker. You just want to let your feet breathe at the end of the day.”
Moulded to feet of all shapes and sizes
As well, the Telic Sandals can also be easily moulded for feet of all shapes and sizes, according to the manufacturers, thanks to the elasticity of the unique blend of elasto-polymers present in the sandals.
Comfort levels sets it apart from other sandals
Indeed, it is the comfort levels and support that sets Telic sandals apart from other normal sandals out in the market. Said David, “Telic Sandals are designed just like any other sports shoes; it has a medial arch support to help prevent your feet from overpronating and a wide strap to prevent blisters on your feet.”
The Project Manager added, “there is also a soft toe part in the sandals, for best comfort and of course, its Novalon material – which reacts to your body temperature and allows it to conform to your feet. Telic sandals are also machine-washable and they float. So water sports enthusiasts need not worry about losing their slippers in the water.”
Several colours and designs are available
With the Telic Sandals having been launched officially in Singapore last week, I had the chance to test out a pair of these new and revolutionary shoes.
My first impression of the Telic Sandals are that they look like your standard Singaporean rubbery flip flops. And there are a few designs and colours available depending on personal preference. For example, colours include neutral ones such as black and white, to brighter ones like pink, red and lime green.
The designs comprise of the Telic Flip Flop, Telic Z-Strap, Telic Dream and Telic Slide, and the position of the toe strap varies depending on the design.
The design that I had, was the Telic Flip Flop design in a hot pink colour.
Feet sink into the sandals
When I put on the Telic Flip Flop Sandals after a 45-minute run, the first thing I had noticed was how my feet had simply sunk down into the sandals, thus relieving them immediately. The cushioning, in short, it was actually quite amazing.
At the same time when I was walking around the house with them on, the shoes seemed to reduce the amount of pressure on my soles, and I found that I could walk without any discomfort on my feet and legs. Any feeling of cramps or pains after a run, also seemed to have been reduced. I didn’t seem to float, though.
At the same time, I actually felt my feet being massaged gently whenever I walked, thanks to the textured footbed that my soles were resting on. And this certainly added to the comfort level of the Telic sandals.
I can definitely see how these shoes will help after a longer running session, such as a full marathon or an ultra, when my feet are feeling extremely exhausted. I am sure that women who have been wearing high heels all day for work purposes, would also love to have these shoes to change into.
Telic sandals will help runners with minor injuries
As well, I can see how these shoes may possibly help to relieve pain and discomfort in runners who have sustained minor injures on their legs or feet.
This is because with the deep heel cup of the Telic sandals, this provides greater medical arch and metatarsal support, and at the same time offloading heel pressure and accentuating arch support. So for example, this means that runners with minor injuries such as Grade 1 ankle sprains may be able to walk with less pain when wearing the sandals.
Besides wearing them after running, I have also taken the Telic sandals to the nearby swimming pool and put them on after a swim. It felt really comfortable when walking and in fact, I almost did not want to take the shoes off, when I had reached home!
My only gripe though, with the Telic Sandals was that when I was taking them off, I found that my feet had sunk down into the sandals so much – that it took some effort to pry them off my feet.
But other than that, the Telic Sandals are a comfortable pair of recovery shoes and I would probably be bringing them along with me to change into – after completing my next half or full marathon race.

I wore Telic flip flops after I broke my toe. They were the only shoe I could walk in and not have pain. Even house slippers hurt when I walked in them! The Telic shoe is amazing!
