Puma, the official kit suppliers for Leicester City (LCFC), has just unveiled the new 2016/2017 home kit for the new English Premier League (EPL) champions.
For the first time in their history, the LCFC home shirt will display the Premier League embellishment, which is only reserved for Champions. Also, the contemporary style of the shirt brings a bold, geometric jacquard design to the body and sleeves to create an eye-catching statement on the pitch.
And the shirt has a traditional but stylised collar and both the shirt and shorts have stripe and contrasting piping to display a subtle flash of gold to showcase the club’s Champions status.
Andy King loves the kit design
Midfielder Andy King is happy with the design of the kit. He said, “Again, Puma have created a kit which looks fantastic. The piping on the front and back, which offers hints of gold, looks great and will help us to stand out on the pitch. We can’t wait to walk out onto the pitch in this shirt at the start of the 16/17 EPL season as we defend our title.”
The design of the home shirt is based around the Fearless attitude that the Foxes have displayed, when they were promoted to the Premier League from the Championship – and barely survived relegation in the 14/15 season… and now they have won the biggest title in English football.
Said Paul Spencer, General Manager, Puma UKIB, “As well as writing one of the greatest stories in the history of sport, Leicester City are a fantastic football club with rich heritage and incredible fans. It’s a privilege to work with the club in our role as official kit supplier. We look forward to many more fearless moments next season with the club.”
Borussia Dortmund Also Launch New Home Kit
Puma has also unveiled the new home kit for German football club Borussia Dortmund, for the 2016/2017 Season.
Inspired by the motto “Pure Emotion”, Dortmund’s kit aims to inspire courage and confidence on both the pitch and terraces, thus drawing on the club’s past successes and looking towards the future.
In traditional yellow, the shirt has a black block stripe design that is complemented by additional stripes in a dot pattern and a black Puma form-strip on the shoulder. A round neck collar completes the design, with an extended back for a more improved fit.
On the front is the Puma Cat logo and the traditional ‘Dortmund’ lettering is printed on the back of the shirt.
To ensure comfort, the shirt is made with high-quality polymer material with mesh inserts on the sides. The dryCELL technology is also added to the shirt, with the purpose of transporting moisture outwards and guaranteeing breathability.
Dortmund Players are excited to wear the new shirt
Dortmund’s Marco Reus is excited to wear the new jersey. Said the winger, “I think what Puma has developed is fantastic. I am a big fan of the design with the stripes. Also I have talked to some of my team-mates and they are all very happy with the kit. We are looking forward to the new season and will give everything we can.”
The kit will make its debut during the last home game of the Bundesliga season against 1. FC Koln.
