At the press conference which took place last Monday, 29 January, Riise, who played for Liverpool from 2001 to 2008, was in attendance and I took the opportunity to do a short interview with him about hot topics of discussion in the football world today, such as Jurgen Klopp’s resignation and who he thinks will be Liverpool’s next manager. Riise also shared his opinion with me on VAR and his feelings on that night in Istanbul in 2005.

There was also a panel discussion hosted by John Dykes, featuring Riise, Aleksandar Duric, Holalan and Yann Courqueux. The discussion consisted of questions and answers on topics pertaining to community development, integrating global football with community measures, youth engagement as well as corporate responsibility and anti piracy measures in football.
The event is expected to draw about 5,000 attendees and is in line with Singapore’s mission to enhance the significance of grassroots football in local youth development. Football serves as a unifying force, bringing communities together and instilling a sense of national pride.
