The only travel agent with exclusive status for HSBC World Rugby 7s in Singapore

Said Low Teo Ping, Rugby Singapore Chairman, “South Africa (SA) Rugby Travel is the only travel agent that has an exclusive status for the HSBC World Rugby Singapore 7s. Our partnership with SARU goes beyond tickets and revenue. They also have been giving advice to the Singapore Rugby Union (SRU) on technical areas on and off the pitch and providing Rugby Singapore the support for running the World Rugby 7s coming to Singapore this April.”

He added, “We had full access during the recent Cape Town 7s when RSG Commercial Manager Douglas Danapal and Operations Manager Han Lee travelled to Cape Town to understand the tournament operations and rights delivery for local and global supporters.”

Singapore, in recent years, have hosted SA Sevens developmental sides to compete in events such as the Singapore Cricket Club (SCC) 7s. The latest edition was won by the SA Sevens Academy, led by Rosko Specimen, who scored 10 tries – this was a tournament high.

Clinics for coaches and local players in Singapore

Added Low, “South Africa is a rugby powerhouse and two-time world champions. Beyond just bringing South African fans to Singapore for the World Rugby Sevens, SARU will conduct clinics for local coaches and players during the Singapore Sevens tournament week. I am sure it will be an inspiration to our young players to meet stars like Specimen and long-time Blitzbok captain Kyle Brown.”

As well, young talent from the Singapore Sevens will be sent to South Africa, as part of the ‘Heroes in the Making’ programme to learn, train and absorb the culture of the Commonwealth Games 7s Champions and Rugby World Cup 15s winners in 1995 and 2007.

Travel packages with flights and match tickets are available

Travel packages for fans are now on sale for the Singapore Sevens with flight and match tickets beginning from ZAR10,375 [SGD916] (excluding airport taxes).

Said Julie Roux, CEO of SARU, “We have had a strong interest from South African fans and the corporate world to travel to Asia for world class rugby since we launched SA Rugby Travel. The current HSBC World Rugby 7s is seen as the Road to Rio and I am not surprised that South Africans are keen to experience Sevens rugby in Asia. I’m sure SA Rugby Travel will ensure an outstanding fan experience for our fans travelling to Singapore.”
