British musical stars Lighthouse Family and The Ramona Flowers will be making their debut performances in Singapore – at the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix this year.
Lighthouse Family
Lighthouse Family is made up of vocalist Tunde Baiyewu and producer cum keyboardist Paul Tucker, and they are making their return this year after two decades, with their fourth album, titled Blue Sky In Your Head.
They are one of the biggest British bands of the 1990s era, and they rose to fame with their hit singles, Lifted, Ocean Drive and High.
Fans can look forward to the duo’s classic hits at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre – Zone 4, on 21 September. Singapore is one of the selected Asian cities that they are performing at, following their sold-out United Kingdom tour earlier this year.
Ramona Flowers
And on the other hand, Ramona Flowers is known for fusing electro-rock elements with anthem pop melodies and consists of guitarist Sam James, bassist Wayne Jones, keyboardist cum guitarist Dave Betts, drummer Ed Gallimore and vocalist Steve Bird, and are aiming to serve up a feast for the senses at the F1 Singapore GP with their unusual brand of moody, electronic music.
Fans can look forward to euphoric tracks like Strangers, Ghost and Out Of Focus at the Sunset Stage – Zone 1, on 21 September and the Downtown Stage – Zone 4, on 22 September.
Other local and international performances
They will be joining other acts that include Fatboy Slim, Gwen Stefani, Hans Zimmer, Larkin Poe, Muse, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Swedish House Mafia and Toots and the Maytals, and will add to the reverting atmosphere at the Marina Bay Street Circuit during race weekend.
Fans who want to support local talent can look forward to The Smoking Guns, Singapore’s only fully independent professional symphony orchestra, as well as Bloco Singapore, a percussion ensemble. Taiwan’s Coming True Fire Group, a fire dance troupe, will also be giving a performance too.
