At the Singapura Finance 47th Singapore National Age Groups Championships 2016, Singapore’s national swimmers will be all geared up to book their slots at the Rio Olympics 2016.
That is because this event is the final local qualifying event for the Summer Olympic Games.
Said General Manager of Enterprise Sports Group (ESG), Ryan Quek, “ESG is pleased to play a vital role, once again, in this event. Being the last event for our swimmers to qualify for Rio, the 2016 edition is not one to be missed. This is coupled together with the fact that our swimmers are amongst the strongest in the world.”
Week-long event will take place at the OCBC Aquatic Centre
Kicking off on 11 March with the 8-12 year old Juniors Category, the week-long event will take place at the OCBC Aquatic Centre, Singapore Sports Hub. But the excitement and drama will not stop there – the Seniors (13 years and up) will bring their best form to the pool as they attempt one last push to meet the local qualifying standards for the Olympic Games.
Swimmers who break records will be rewarded
As well, title sponsor Singapura Finance will reward swimmers who break National and Meet records with cash prizes of up to $500 and $200, to recognise the efforts and achievements made by local swimmers.
Said Jamie Teo, Chief Executive Officer of Singapura Finance, “We are very pleased to sponsor the Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championships for the second consecutive year. It is our aim to continue to develop Singapore swimming talent of all levels, at such a prestigious competition.”
