Despite Japanese captain Makoto Hasebe being out of the game, Japan is fielding an incredibly strong line-up – a sign that Japan is not taking this friendly game lightly at all.
Their team sheet comprises of not only former Man U starlet Shinji Kagawa, but also other strong European-based players such as AC Milan ace Keisuke Honda and top Bundesliga scorer Shinji Okazaki.
Neymar is relishing the chance to captain the Selecao against the Japanese
It is a line-up that is enough to strike fear in the hearts of many footballers… but not Neymar, who will be captaining Brazil in the October 14 clash, to be held at Singapore’s National Stadium.
Rather, the Selecao’s star player is very happy about the prospect and relishing the chance to prove a point against the Japanese on Singaporean soil.
Said Neymar, “I’m really happy to be playing against the Japan National Team at the new National Stadium. I hope you all fill the stadium and come watch this great game.”
Brazilians want to return to the summit of world football
After a disastrous showing at the Fifa World Cup earlier this year, that saw the Brazilians mauled 7-1 by a resurgent German side in the semi-final and another 3-0 loss to the Netherlands, the Brazilians are desperate to get back to the summit of world football.
That time, Neymar’s own World Cup was also tragically ended because of a back injury – and now he aims to be better than ever.
