For the second straight year, the ASICS City Relay is back again in Singapore.
Giving runners an unparalleled adrenaline mix of performance and team spirit, the ASICS City Relay is a one-of-its-kind run and will take place on 24 September this year at the Singapore Sports Hub.
Taking the race to new heights in September
Said Geoff Meyer, Managing Director, IRONMAN Asia – the new event organiser for the ASICS City Relay, “Following on the success of the ASICS City Relay Bangkok in March and Kuala Lumpur in May, we are taking the race to new heights in the Singapore leg held in September.”
Added Meyer, “For the performance runners, the relay presents a new set of challenges where running as a team is about getting every runner’s momentum in tandem, putting aside differences for a common goal.”
A Full Marathon and a new Half Marathon category
This year’s edition will bring back the 42.195km (Team of 4) Category together with a brand new 21.1km (Team of 4) category to appeal to aspiring runners to take part in their first race.
Said Meyer, “We hope to appeal to first-timers to take on this run, in the hope of eventually completing their first running race – in the company of friends with our new 21.1km category.”
Runners will complete either one or two laps of the course around the Sports Hub precinct. This will be a 5.25km loop, and changeovers will take place within the Stadium itself. While waiting for team mates to complete their leg, runners can warm-up or cool-down within a designated athlete zone on the pitch.
Live results of the race leaders will also be shown on a giant LED screen within the stadium grounds.
Said Yogesh Gandhi, Managing Director for ASICS Asia Pte. Ltd., “We believe that the relay-styled marathon will not only benefit the body and the mind, but will also accomplish a bigger milestone of overcoming individual differences and inspiring solidarity. We are excited to work with IRONMAN Endurance Asia in this event and look forward to seeing runners turn out in full force for the race in September.”
Capped at 1,500 teams to ensure a great running experience
Participants will compete in teams of four runners, and they can register as All Male, All Female or Mixed teams or join the Corporate or Schools category. Participant numbers will be capped at 1,500 teams to ensure a great running experience for all runners.
