Click here for my Race Review for ASICS Relay.
Come 4th November, the ASICS Relay race will take place in Singapore and the race will begin at Singapore’s first purpose built civil airport, commonly known as the former Kallang Airport and opened in June 1937.
Demonstrates ASICS’ commitment to running
The ASICS Relay demonstrates ASICS’ commitment to running as a sport and its salute to team spirt. It is designed to be a fun and bonding experience for anyone interested in running, whether they are fitness explorers, adventure seekers, health enthusiasts or recreational runners.
The Singapore leg is the third stop in the four legged relay series. The relay starts in Jakarta in Indonesia on 19 August, followed by Kuala Lumpur on 7 October, Singapore on 4 November and Bangkok in Thailand on 2 December.
Said Kenji Oh, Asia Marketing Director of ASICS Asia Pte Ltd, “Introducing the ASICS Relay to more South East Asian countries affirms our historical association with running. It is heartening to see runners from all walks of life, regular and first timers, complete the marathon. We look forward to welcoming this year’s runners.”
Across the four cities, about three thousand teams are expected to take part. Teams of four runners each, complete the Full Marathon (42.195km) or the Half Marathon (21.1km) and each member runs a quarter of the total distance. The format draws on the motivational strength of teamwork and building camaraderie as each team completes their run in unity.
Runners begin from Kallang Airport and race towards Golden Mile Complex
In the Singapore leg of the ASICS relay, each runner will start from the village located within the airport, and race towards Golden Mile Complex and then Nicoll Highway. The circuit will be completed where the Singapore Sports Hub serves as a backdrop for the runners, before heading back to the airbase to hand the baton to the next runner.
The overall fastest teams in Singapore, in the Male, Female and the Mixed categories will win travel vouchers worth S$3,000.
