To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Gold Coast Marathon, the running event has teamed up with sporting apparel company ASICS to release a special edition Gel Nimbus 20 GOLD COAST shoe.
The shoe had been recently launched at the ASICS Store at Harbour Town and will be a part of the ASICS City Icons range of shoes that include Tokyo, London and Boston.
Said Sam Chew, ASICS Oceania General Manager Marketing, “We are proud to include the Gold Coast in the ASICS City Icons range as a tribute to its rich 40 year history and its deep marathon tradition, placing it in the esteemed company of Boston, Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo, London and Stockholm.”
Organised by Events Management Queensland, a major event management company wholly owned by the Queensland Government as part of Tourism and Events Queensland, the 40th edition of the Gold Coast Marathon this year will be held on the weekend of 30 June and 1 July.
Said Cameron Hart, Events Management Queensland CEO, “We are delighted that ASICS has produced a special edition of there Gel Nimbus 20 GOLD COAST shoe for the Gold Coast Marathon’s 40th year.”
He added, “ASICS has been a significant contributor to the international growth and success of the Gold Coast Marathon since it came on board with the event in the year 1999.”
Indeed, ASICS has been a partner of the Gold Coast Marathon for 20 years, making them the marathon’s longest serving sponsor.
Said Chew, “ASICS has been part of the Gold Coast Marathon’s journey for 20 of its 40 events, and we wanted to develop a special shoe as part of our iconic marathon range to commemorate the occasion.”
He added, “The Gel Nimbus 20 is the most popular ASICS running shoe, so it will be a highlight to see many pairs pounding the pavement at this year’s 40th Gold Coast Marathon.”
Runners will be able to purchase the shoe in select retail stores across Australia, online, as well as at the ASICS Sport & Leisure Expo at the Gold Coast Marathon.
