To celebrate the 110th anniversary of Great Eastern, a slew of exciting new initiatives will be available at the Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR) this year, which will be held on Sunday 14th October.
A market leader and a well-established trusted brand in Singapore and Malaysia, Great Eastern was founded in 1908 and consists of three distribution channels – a tied agency force, bancassurance and a financial advisory firm – the Great Eastern Financial Advisors.
And set to begin on 31 May 2018 at the Great Eastern Centre, the GEWR launch event will kick off from 11am onwards, with the first 110 registrants at the launch event, enjoying a special celebrative registration fee of S$11 for any category of their choice.
As well, these first 110 runners will also get a special goodie bag consisting of a Reebok water bottle, sports towel and limited edition Reebok sports bra worth more than S$100 in total.
But fret not if you are not the first 110 though. This is because the first 2,000 runners at the launch will get special roadshow prices too.
For example, for the adult categories, runners can take part in the Half Marathon at S$56, in the 10km Run at S$44 and the 5km Fun Run at S$29.
As well, the first 100 runners to sign up for the 2km Mummy+Me Run or the Princess Dash will get a My Little Pony Mini Plush Toy worth S$15.90.
All of these gifts are being given out in line with Reebok being introduced as the new apparel partner for this year’s GEWR. As well, GEWR is also offering runners the chance to buy an exclusive Reebok sports bra, as part of their limited edition 110th Anniversary package. All runners need to do, is to top up S$10 to their race entry. The sports bra is worth S$49.
Other race entitlements that runners can look forward to, include a Reebok race tee, finisher medal, goodie bag and Reebok finisher tee, the latter only being for 21.1km finishers.
The run itself will also be held at the iconic Singapore Sports Hub and the organisers will be unveiling a brand new route for runners to enjoy, with Nicoll Highway as the start point and the finish point at a spacious race village located at the National Stadium.
Said Adam Firth, Singapore Sports Hub’s Chief Commercial Officer, “We congratulate our Singapore Sports Hub founding partner, Great Eastern, on their 110th anniversary, which is truly a special occasion for this great Singaporean company.”
He continued, “The Singapore Sports Hub is delighted to celebrate with Great Eastern as the venue partner for the GEWR this year. At the Singapore Sports Hub, we are passionate about promoting active living and fitness fun for the community and we look forward to welcoming thousands of participating ladies, as well as their supporters, friends and families, to the Hub to enjoy the extraordinary experience of running in, and around, the Singapore National Stadium.”
And a new category for adults will also be making its debut. This is the 110 Metre Sprint, and is being introduced in commemoration of Great Eastern’s 110th anniversary milestone.
This would also mark the very first time that a mass running event in Singapore is organising a sprint category for those aged 13 and above and runners in this category will get the rare chance to race entirely on the stadium track.
Said Keith Chia, Great Eastern’s Head of Group Branding and Marketing, “As we celebrate Great Eastern’s 110th anniversary, we are providing more exciting offerings to participants this year with the new 110 Metre spring and a brand new venue.”
The 110 Metre Sprint will be available at a fixed rate of just S$11 for all participants.
This new category will provide even more options for runners to choose from, adding another dimension to GEWR. The other categories are the Half Marathon, 10km Run, 5km Fun Run, 2km Mummy+Me Run for mothers and their daughters who are aged between seven to 12 years old and the Princess Dash for girls aged three to six years old.
Added Chia, “We trust that these will enhance the whole race experience and create more Live Great moments. We look forward to more joining us as we continue to champion health and wellness in the community.”
As well, this year’s edition of GEWR is also enhanced with the Get Great and UpGreat apps, two new industry-first digital platforms by the company. GetGreat is a wellness platform complete with a wellness coach called Geri, who is powered by artificial intelligence and offers personalised coaching 24/7 to nudge users towards their personal wellness goals.
This app also includes special wellness challenges and GEWR runners can participate in these, to earn more points which can go to redeeming better benefits and rewards. They can also invite their families and friends as well as exercising with a buddy and forming social groups to motivate each other on their wellness journeys.
UpGreat on the other hand, allows customers to seamlessly enjoy all their loyalty benefits and rewards digitally at any time, and even transfer these to family and friends.
Both apps are available free of charge, on both the Apple and Android app stores and they will help support runners on their journey to Live Great.
And in fact, GEWR registrants who download Great Eastern’s GetGreat and UpGreat apps onto their phones and show these at the launch event, will also get a goodie bag worth more than S$50.
