This year, female Singaporean-born and permanent resident elite runners – will have a chance to compete against their peers at the Great Eastern Women’s Run (GEWR).
That’s because Asia’s largest premier women-only half marathon has just introduced a new Singaporean Elite Closed Category.
Entry for participation into this category is by invite only
Entry for participation into this exclusive category is by invite only. Runners have been selected based on their performances in previous local races. A combined prize pool of $5,500 will be given out to the top three Singaporean runners.
Said Dr Khoo Kah Siang, CEO (Singapore), Great Eastern Life, “I am pleased to announce the addition of this new category, which we hope will provide a platform for the local elites to hone their running skills as they train to compete in regional and international competitions.”
Local Runners identified to take part
A total of at least 14 local runners have been identified to take part. They include Mok Ying Rong, Anne Qi Hui and Renuka Sathianathan and they will try to improve on their personal bests, in an attempt to clinch a podium position.
For elite runners around the region, they will continue to be invited to face off against each other in the Elite Open Category.
GEWR will flag off and end at The Float @ Marina Bay
Commissioned by Great Eastern and organised by HiVelocity Events, the GEWR will flag off and end at The Float @ Marina Bay on Sunday, 9 November, 2014. The event will feature three race distances – the 5km Live Great Fun Run, as well as the 10Km and 21.1Km competitive races. These target female runners of all abilities.
Enjoy discounted rates by registering together with a partner
Participants who register for the event with a partner can enjoy a discounted rate while participants from the same company who wish to take part with 15 other runners can sign up in teams of four under the Corporate category.
21.1Km Category is Fully Subscribed
The 21.1Km category is now fully subscribed, but registrations for the 5Km and 10Km categories are still open and will close on 30 September.
Said Adrian Mok, Managing Director of HiVelocity Events Pte Ltd, the organiser of GEWR, “We are pleased with the oversubscription of the 21.1Km category. We had to open registration for that twice, and now we have reached full capacity, with at least 3,000 women who have registered for this category. It is heartening to know that many women today understand the importance of keeping fit and are confident of conquering race distances that are more than 5Km or even 10Km.
Register now for the GEWR at http://www.greateasternwomensrun.com/ – because registrations close on 30 September.
