This March, local running club X-Trailblazers is holding a three weeks introduction to trail running progressive workshop for women.
Empowering and celebrating women
Said founder Jasmine Goh, “March is the moment of celebrating women and empowering fellow women. What better way than to challenge ladies to step out of their comfort zone and explore trail running.”
Jasmine added, “Many women believe that trail running is difficult and that you can get hurt easily. This is definitely not true. While the undulating and uneven terrain can be a challenge, the soft dirt is gentler on your legs. I have a stress fracture in my foot from running on concrete, but never from running trails.”
Taking place on three Sundays this March
The workshop, which will be taking place on three upcoming Sundays in March, aims to share trail running with ladies who are new to the sport and will include brief lessons and techniques on trail running.
Added Jasmine, “At the workshop, you’ll pick up tips and tricks that I have learnt over the years as a winner of multiple trail races in the region. I will love to share my experiences and knowledge. As a female runner who started running late, at age 32, I hope to express that it is never too late to learn new skills.”
As well, at each session, there will also be a short distance to cover, in order to help the ladies attending to absorb the lessons that they would have just learnt.
Jasmine hopes that the workshop will help women gain trail confidence
Through the three sessions, Jasmine hopes that more women will gain the confidence to run on trails and learn to enjoy it.
She said, “practice always makes perfect. I am still a work-in-progress and learning every time I run the trails. This makes it more fun. No two runs are ever the same because of the terrain. But with some proper technical skills, hopefully I can make you a more confident trail runner.”
