Thanks to Lucozade Sport, I was given a chance to try out the beverage too.
I tasted the Lucozade drink both during and after a 21km training run. It definitely tasted very refreshing. During the run, I could feel the energy boost coming from the Lucozade beverage almost instantly and this definitely helped to keep me going. Upon completion of my run, I had been feeling quite exhausted and drained – but the fast absorption of the cold Lucozade into my body had helped to re-energise me very quickly.
The flavour itself was also quite pleasant. Due to the distinctive orange flavour, I felt as though I was drinking an orange fruit drink rather than a sports drink and this was very refreshing. It also had a nice sweet taste too. And after a run, I often find myself craving for something cold and sugary, so perhaps the sweetness was a good thing after all.
I also liked the fact that the Lucozade was not fizzy. This is because when I am doing exercise, I find that the gassiness and fizz in sugary drinks not only causes a lot of burping and gassing, but also gives a bit of stomach irritation occasionally.
