The annual Run For Hope is back in 2022 with a hybrid event.
Raise awareness for cancer research
An annual non-competitive run organised by the National Cancer Center Singapore and Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Run For Hope aims to raise awareness and support for cancer research.
Having attracted over 100,000 runners over the past 28 years, Run For Hope is the largest run in Singapore for cancer research.
More than 12,000 diagnosed with cancer annually
Every year, more than 12,000 people are diagnosed with cancer in Singapore.
Through advances in science and dedicated cancer research activities, a cancer diagnosis is no longer fatal. Through Run For Hope, the National Cancer Center Singapore also hopes to raise awareness on some of the rarer varieties of cancer, as well as the difficulties that cancer patients face in their day-to-day lives.
Takes place on 6th November
The 2022 event will take place on 6th November as a hybrid event with both physical and virtual race categories.
The physical run is an in-person event that will take place on 6 November at Marina Barrage from 6.30am with 2.9km and 10km categories.
Following the physical race, the virtual event will kick off on 6 November and continues over a six-week period till 15 December, with 29km and 290km categories.
The distance for the virtual categories is cumulative, meaning that participants can complete their registered distance in multiple activities on any date or time during the race period.
However it is required that you use the Strava app in order to clock and submit your distance.
I took part in 2020
I last took part in the Run For Hope event in 2020.
This was originally a physical event which was eventually converted into a virtual one, due to the pandemic.
While it had been a bummer at the time that the physical race has been cancelled, it is good to see the return of the Run For Hope physical event.
Nothing beats the race mood and atmosphere of taking part in actual in-person events, after all.
How to register
If you would like to take part in the Run For Hope, you can register at https://www.runforhope.sg/
Registration fees are priced at $59 for the physical categories and from
$39 for the virtual categories.
How did you manage to decrease your one mile time from 7.17 to 6.33 in the bloomberg square mile?
Through plenty of low heart rate/easy/aerobic running.
