RUN FOR LIGHT 2022 will take place on the evening of Saturday 14 May 2022 at Punggol waterway. After a two-year break, the event is aimed at spearheading the hybrid way of combining on-site action with virtual running.
Two distances
There are two distances – 5km and 10km, and both have an on-site and a virtual option.
Flagging off at 6.30pm, the on-site 5km is non-competitive, for those who want to simply soak up the atmosphere of a physical event.
For those who want to experience the thrill, competition and adrenaline of racing again after so long, the 10km on-site category is available. This category flags off at 5pm.
I am taking part in the 10km on-site event and I hope that I will see you there.
I will definitely say that I am looking forward to catching up with, and racing against my running buddies here in Singapore, once again. It has been two years since we last took part in a local race event.
Runners to be flagged off in waves
With the current covid-19 restrictions, a total of 600 runners will be allowed on-site in the two categories and will be flagged off in a controlled basis.
Runners are required to be fully vaccinated and show proof of vaccination status, before they are allowed into the start zone.
Safe management measures
Safe management measures will be strictly adhered to and runners will be flagged off in mini waves of 10 pax per one-minute intervals.
Race bibs and timing
Physical race bibs will be mailed to on-site runners prior to the race day. These bibs are required to receive access to the holding area.
Being a competitive race, the 10km race bibs will consist of timing chips.
Due to the wave flag-offs, podium finish will be based on nett time, not gun time.
Race routes
The race routes will feature the scenic Punggol waterways.
Finisher medals
For the race medals, runners will receive these once they have crossed the finish line.
Runners are not allowed to congregate after the race due to social distancing measures in place.
