Singapore Cancer Society - TalkMed Relay For Life [Virtual]

Taking place virtually from 20 – 28 March 2021, the Singapore Cancer Society – TalkMed Relay For Life 2021 offers everyone a chance to Celebrate cancer survivors’ and caregivers’ triumphs against the disease, Remember loved ones lost to cancer and Fight Back against cancer. Those taking part can choose whether to join as an individual or team in one of two challenge categories:

Categories

100KM Challenge – Signifying the long and arduous battle that cancer patients face, this categories calls for participants to clock 100KM and fundraise for the cancer community by running, walking, cycling and/or swimming to show cancer patients that they will not walk alone in their fight against cancer.
My Fight Back Challenge – this category calls for participants to set up their own personal challenges to show support and fundraise for the cancer community, by doing an activity that participants are passionate or interested in, and that promises good health, mind and body.

The event has a target of 5,000 participants and aims to raise $900,000 to fund the Singapore Cancer Society’s various programmes and services that serve the needs of the cancer community in Singapore.

And to honour the themes of Relay For Life – Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back, several activities will be taking place during the event dates. These are as follows.

Celebrate – The cancer community will rally together through a virtual platform to celebrate the lives of cancer survivors and fundraise for the cancer cause. This recognises not only the triumphs of cancer survivors against the disease, but also caregivers who have given time, love and support to those facing or who have faced cancer.
Remember – To honour those who have lost their lives to cancer, Luminaria bags will be showcased online on the Relay For Life website. Usually at the physical event, these bags are lit and placed on the event site as glowing tributes, each bag to signify a loved one lost to cancer.
Fight Back – This final segment inspires participates to take action and showcases the commitment that everyone can make in the fight against cancer and save lives.

While registration fees are not required upfront for the TalkMed Relay For Life 2021, participants are required to complete a variety of tasks to earn e-certificates, badges and physical entitlements which symbolise the event slogan of Celebrate, Remember and Fight Back.
