STANDARD CHARTERED SINGAPORE MARATHON 2024 IS BACK

Runners in Singapore, get yourselves ready for a running fiesta like none other.

This is because Singapore’s marquee running event, The Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) is returning again to our shores on 29 Nov – 1 Dec.

This year, a brand new route awaits participants of SCSM, which will showcase Singapore’s most stunning landmarks and add to the run experience. More details on the route and road closures will be announced in due course.

And as well, long-time partner Standard Chartered Bank has also renewed its support and commitment to the event, in one of the longest sports partnerships dating back to 2002 and connecting people through their shared resilience and determination.

Said Jeff Edwards, Managing Director of Asia for The IRONMAN Group, organisers of SCSM, “We are excited and honoured to once again collaborate with Standard Chartered and our renewed partnership to promote the running community and culture in Singapore.”

He also continues, “The resounding success from last year’s event, where we saw 44,000 runners, including more than 8,600 international participants – the highest in the marathon history, has fuelled our determination to elevate the 2024 race experience even further.”

New to the SCSM 2024 is the Ekiden category, which is making a comeback since 2019.

The Ekiden will see five runners taking turns to complete the Marathon course and passing a sash to one another at the designated transition points to encourage teamwork and further inclusivity.

Standard Chartered Bank will also provide 100 complimentary Ekiden slots to corporate teams who commit to fundraising for FutureMakers by Standard Chartered, a global youth initiative that empowers young people to learn, earn and grow.

As part of the partnership, the Bank will also introduce the “5km and Beyond” challenge for Singapore-based employees to inspire  new runners to take part in the event’s 5km category and thereby achieving their fitness goals.

This includes complimentary race slots, training programmes, running clinics and more. It also complements other activations for employees at Standard Chartered, such as Home Run @ SCSM, where colleagues are encouraged to raise funds for FutureMakers by running or walking.

For Standard Chartered cardholders who register for the race and pay with a Standard Chartered card, they will be entered into a Lucky Draw where they stand to win a run-cation to the 2025 Standard Chartered Marathon events in Hong Kong, Taipei, Hanoi or Kuala Lumpur.

The prize includes complimentary race slots and a pair of round-trip, economy class flights to the city together with a three-night hotel stay.

Says Patrick Lee, CEO, Singapore and ASEAN, Standard Chartered Bank, “With the re-introduction of the Ekiden race, a “Run-cation” promotion, and the launch of a ‘5 km and Beyond’ employee challenge, we look forward to connecting Singapore’s diverse running communities and delivering yet another remarkable experience.”

The three-day SCSM running fiesta begins with the Kids Dash on Friday 29 Nov, then the 5km and 10km events on Sat 30 Nov and finally, the half and full marathon categories on Sun 1 Dec. The Ekiden runners will compete alongside the Marathon runners.

Registration for SCSM 2024 is now open.

Tier 1 pricing for the marathon, half-marathon, 10km, 5km, Ekiden race and Kids Dash are $119, $99, $80, $61, $600 (per team) and $39 respectively.
