The 2024 edition of the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) is taking place from 29 November – 1 December and will feature brand new running routes.
The new routes are set to showcase the best of the city and pass some of the most scenic and iconic landmarks of Singapore, including beaches, historic buildings and the central business district (CBD), and the finish will be at the iconic Anderson Bridge.
Each race category will feature its own course with participants running past the iconic Esplanade, Merlion, Fullerton Hotel, National Stadium, Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay. Some of the popular landmarks en route include Asian Civilisations Museum, Victoria Concert Hall and the Padang. For Marathon runners, East Coast Park will feature in the early stages of the race and will traverse the CBD in broad daylight. Half Marathon runners will be able to run through the Gardens by the Bay for the first time since SCSM 2016.
The Kids Dash kicks off the SCSM 2024 festivities on Friday 29 November at 7pm.
Then on the morning of Saturday 30 November, the 5km (8:30am) and 10km (6:30am) takes place at the F1 pit building towards Republic Avenue and Beach Road.
Then the Half and Full Marathon categories will both flag off on Sunday, also from the F1 Pit Building, in waves from 4:30am.
The Half Marathon will see the return of champions Vanessa Lee and Shaun Goh in both the female and male categories respectively.
Said Lee: “I’m excited about the opportunity to compete again at SCSM this year and defend my title as the Half Marathon champion. I also look forward to running with and inspiring the community.
Added Goh: “I am excited to be back this year competing in the National Championship. Last year, I had a really tough battle with Jon Lim, who came in second and just barely scraped out the win. It’s always fun battling with Jon and he’s only gotten stronger over the past year.”
SCSM 2024 will also see the return of the Ekiden race, which follows the same route as the Marathon except for the including of multiple changeover zones for swapping runners. Teams of five runners will take turns to complete the course together.
In support of the community, Standard Chartered will provide 100 complimentary Ekiden slots on a first-come, first-served basis to corporate teams who commit to fundraising with FutureMakers by Standard Chartered.
