Regardless of whether you are a newbie runner or someone who has years of experience of being involved in the sport, Sentosa will certainly have something to meet your running needs and thirst for adventure.
A great way to break the routine of running in Singapore’s concrete jungle, would be to use the running and walking routes at Sentosa spanning various terrains such as hills, beaches and trails. So you can really immerse yourself in the nature there.
Discover a slice of history
History buffs can discover more about Sentosa’s history by running up the dirt hill towards Serapong Hill Road, where there is a narrow road towards Fort Siloso’s lesser known sibling, Fort Serapong. You can continue your run towards Fort Siloso, to complete your journey through Singapore’s history.
These landmarks are part of the British’s defence against the Japanese during the Second World War and they still remain on the island today, as grim reminders of the horrors of war.
Discover a new way to see Sentosa
Or if you are finding mainland Singapore to be too flat for your liking, why not run along Imbiah Road where you can then cut through the forest and head towards Siloso Road.
As you run, do not forget to watch out for the Ficus Tree, a heritage tree on Sentosa where you can take gorgeous Instagram snapshots to mark your Sentosa running adventure.
Cool Down after your run
You can find the Ficus Tree along Allanbrooke Road, and this is also a great place to chill out under its branches, after your run. But sometimes it becomes cordoned off for maintenance and becomes temporarily out of bounds to the public. As a heritage tree, it goes through maintenance regularly.
Beach lovers can also cool down after their run and dip into the beautiful waters of one of the lovely Sentosa beaches, be it Tanjong, Palawan or Siloso Beach. There is always something new to find out.
At the same time too, Sentosa has plenty of shower and locker facilities for you to clean up after your run, as well as lots of food & beverage options for you to indulge and replenish those lost calories post-run.
Sentosa Running Events
For those who cannot get enough of Sentosa, the island is hosting a couple of upcoming themed events over the next few months.
These include the Cold Storage Kids Run on 20 May at Palawan Beach – where kids can expose themselves to some healthy competition and also give themselves a good stepping stone to larger running events, as well as the Garfield Carnival – that will feature a whole line up of Garfield themed entertainment embracing the lazy feline.
