A run clinic and sharing session was recently hosted by the Great Eastern Women’s Run.
More than 50 ladies and their families from Daughters of Tomorrow were in attendance.
Shared stories and gave tips
At the event, elite runners Jenny Huang, Jasmine Goh and Choo Ling Er shared their stories, gave fitness tips and participated in drills with attendees.
The event was well-received by all who were in attendance.
It was wonderful
Said Asmah Binte Ahmat, 57, a grandmother of seven who will be making her Great Eastern Women’s Run debut, “It was wonderful. The elite runners were inspirational and they taught me simple drills that I can do every morning to prepare for the run.”
Now with a new spring in her step, she continued, “If I can do it, then I am sure that many others can, too.”
Enriching experience
For the elite runners too, it was a heartwarming and enriching experience.
Said Jasmine, “I enjoyed interacting with these ladies and their families. It is an honour to be able to give back to the community through sports.”
She added, “I’m inspired by the attitude, all of them are not intimidated to try the drills and were very game to participate. I can’t wait to see them at the start line in November.”
Jasmine is one of the Great Eastern Women’s Run elites who will be taking part in the elite 21.1km race this November.
Hopes to give back to community
With the Great Eastern Women’s Run, the company hopes to give back through the charities, Daughters of Tomorrow and the Singapore Cancer Society, through a fund-raising initiative led by Great Eastern staff, financial representatives and the elite runners.
