ASICS has recently announced a multi-year sponsorship deal with Spanish footballer Andrés Iniesta Luján. This announcement is hot on the heels of Iniesta’s move to Japanese club Vissel Kobe.
Said Iniesta, “I am extremely excited to be a part of the ASICS family, a brand that embodies similar values and beliefs to myself as a sportsperson.”
Announced at a press conference in Tokyo
The news had been announced at a press conference in Tokyo, Japan as part of ASICS’ vision to expand their football business and at the same time, to reach more audiences across Asia and beyond.
The player added, “I am committed to inspiring others to move more, as well as elevating the game from grassroots level in Japan to bridge the gap between Asian football and the rest of the word. I believe this move is another positive step in making this happen.”
Product placements and promotions to feature Iniesta
Iniesta is known around the world for his playing style and sportsmanship, which are both qualities that are aligned closely with ASICS’ brand identity.
So this means that the player will support ASICS through product placements and promotions, as a nod to ASICS’ growing focus on the football category across Asia, as well as the delivery of the I MOVE ME™ brand tagline.
ASICS is thrilled to be working with Iniesta
Said Motoi Oyama, Chairman and CEO, Representative Director of ASICS Corporation, “We are thrilled to be working with Iniesta as an incredible talent and an inspiration to the industry and fans across the globe.
He continued, “Everything that Iniesta stands for both on and off the pitch makes him the perfect fit for not only ASICS football, but as a brand ambassador for ASICS philosophy rooted in our tagline I MOVE ME™.”
Work on Future Product Developments
And as part of the expansion, both ASICS and Iniesta will work on future product development set to reach consumers in Japan, followed by China and then the rest of the world.
And added Oyami, “We have already had great success in the football category with our sponsorship of Vissel-Kobe and we hope to continue with this partnership deal.”
