The StarHub Football Festival came to a successful conclusion last Sunday night at Our Tampines Hub, with the Singapore Legends and the EPL Legends playing out a six-goal thriller despite lightning warnings, as well as plenty of on-pitch drama and two penalties awarded. The Singapore Legends edged out the tightly-contested game 4-2, capping off a weekend of festivities and football.
Organised by StarHub and World Football Legends, the festival attracted an attendance of more than 5,000 and featured activities aimed at fostering community ties and promoting sportsmanship. Event highlights included meet and greet sessions with the legends as well as the coaching clinics for children aged under 12 and 16 years old respectively. The clinics were well-received and attracted a large turnout despite the rain threatening to derail the event.
There were also plenty of opportunities throughout the weekend for football fans to come face to face with EPL legends such as Emile Heskey, John Arne Riise, Teddy Sheringham, Djibril Cisse, Wes Brown, and many more, all household names whom many football fans are familiar with.
During the course of the weekend, I managed to interview several of these football legends and glean their thoughts on the EPL title race, the climate surrounding Liverpool FC, and more, check out my interviews with them embedded here as well as on my YouTube channel, prischewdotcom.

Said Ian Holahan, Founder, World Football Legends, “Seeing the community come together to support not just the football, but also our charity partners has been rewarding. Events such as the StarHub Football Festival drive home the importance of sports as a unifying force in society.”
The event’s guest of honour was Minister Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development, Second Minister for Health and Minister in charge of Muslim Affairs and Adviser to Tampines Grassroots Organisation.
He said, “The StarHub Football Festival brings together the community through sports. I am very encouraged to see such a talented group of people whose passion for the game, are not only learning about football but also about teamwork and community.”
Proceeds from the event are contributing to the efforts of local charities. A total of $20,000 was raised for charity, showcasing the festival’s commitment to creating an impact beyond football.
I would say that it definitely had been a fun-filled weekend of football action. It was tiring yet fulfilling at the same time, with plenty to do and experience. Thanks once again to StarHub and World Football Legends for the opportunities.
